About

Founder Sarah Simon's design career developed organically, borne of both passion and necessity. It began with small projects -- breathing new life into a favorite vintage sofa, transforming a piece of reclaimed wood into a bench, or creating large scale wall art for her living room. In time, she advanced from restoring flea market finds and decorating for friends, to purchasing her first house. But the dilapidated Craftsman bungalow was more of a health hazard than a home. There were broken windows, rotted floors, and no heating or kitchen appliances. The faucets leaked, grease splatters coated the kitchen walls, and the landscaping had been neglected for two decades.

But the satisfaction that came with each improvement project convinced Sarah to wholeheartedly embark on a career in design. To further prepare herself, she took architecture courses and apprenticed with other interior and landscape designers. At Susie Coelho Enterprises, she assisted the HGTV show host and decorating book author on a variety of design endeavors, including a surprise home makeover for ABC's "The View" and style pieces for the Los Angeles Daily News and Women's Day.

Sarah's intuitive approach is based on years of hands-on experience. Having remodeled three homes of her own, she has a keen understanding of the time, labor and cost involved in renovation. She knows when to invest capital in order to significantly increase a house's value and visual appeal; and when to use elbow grease, affordable styling techniques and accessories to simply revitalize a space.

Sarah established Wallflower Labs to help others create fresh, contemporary environments that complement their lives. "Whether it's a home, an office, a restaurant, or any public space, every structure has potential," she says. "The key is translating the client's needs into a setting that's unique, functional and inspiring."
